Latches

We have plenty of doors and gates around here that all need closing sometimes.

We have a variety of latches.

We have recycled latches...

 Metal latches...

Hay bale twine latches...
Latches that operate by heavy weight...
 Trampoline spring latches...
 Rope latches...
and latches made from pieces of wood.
We also have hinges but that's another story!

I see a few ideas I can latch onto there. ;) Seriously, I like the trampoline spring latch idea and I reckon I might put that into place for my veggie garden. :)

Great post!

Something so simple, yet important...

Lots of latches around here too :)

Hi Rabidlittlehippy, the trampoline spring is great but hard for kids to use. It doesn't have much give. We use it on the nesting box to keep the foxes out.

Thanks Dani, hubby comes up with something every time we need a new gate!

Thanks Kathy, I like them.

Fiona, I would love it if you could link back to here! There must be so many different and quirky latches on our type of properties.

Thanks Tania. Feel free to link here also if you want to do a post on your latches. It would be interesting to see them.

Hi Linda I have done a post about the latches at our place and it was amazing how many we had and I am sure I missed a few. So many gates in such a small space.

Fiona said "latches" so I had to come visit. Our bucks recently rammed one gate so much (the girls are on the other side) that a bolted latch fell off. I need ideas! It's fun to see what others do, and quite creatively.

I missed a couple too Fiona. I realised as I went about my next day's work.

Hi Leigh! You are brave keeping a buck. I don't think I will ever attemp it. None of our fences or latches would stand up to that!
