Eventful
Wow! What a huge couple of days. We've fenced, taken charge of our goats (two in milk and two kids), milked a goat for the first time, taken our children to my parents for their security (the mental pressure is the worst part) and thought about nothing other than fires. It feels very busy keeping track of reports and making sure friends are safe etc. We are not in danger ourselves but feel very surrounded by fire when one flares up nearby.

I hope you are all keeping safe. I'm praying for everyone affected by the fires that are burning everywhere.

I have watched the news footage with horror. I'm so glad you're safe, so sorry for the fear and uncertainty that must be plaguing you. Wishing you continued safety.
One of our workers just finished building his house and moved in a few weeks ago in Beveridge outside Melbourne. The fires came within 200m of his back fence. I was so worried about him yesterday - imagine how he felt hosing down his fence and yard. I think moving the kids out was a good idea. At time of crisis their behavior can sometimes be unexpected and also you dont want them to have that awful feeling of insecurity relating to their home.
Stay safe Linda, I think it is the way fire is so unpredictable that is extra scary, we are in a bushy area too, (although close to the water so have refuge if needs be), so have to keep an eye out even in relative suburbia! It feels like there were fires everywhere yestderday. Thinking of all of you in the country at this stressful time. Julie xx

Glad to hear you are all safe and well I was worried about how you were getting on. Great work with the goats, I am looking forward to hearing all about your goaty adventures because I am sure there will be some.
Everyone fights over fire plans. They get drawn up, agreed to and put away. Then when they are whisked out again the debate starts over what they really mean. We went through this in Spring last year.
Stay prepared and we hope all goes well. Don't worry it will all go away eventually and normal life will resume.
I have been thinking of you up there on your beautiful property. I can imagine your worries about the fires. Hoping that the weather changes soon and brings you all relief. xxx

Good to hear you are still safe! I can well remember living in a bushfire area and it's really not very relaxing over summer.

Four days after this post and I've just caught up. I hope you're all safe and the fire comes under control soon. If you can (still access to power) let us know how you're all doing.
Hi everyone, We are fine, the fires gone and there have even been a couple of drops of rain today. Our friend's properties were impacted in the fires but they still have their homes and more importantly, their lives! They were very brave to stay and defend their properties and animals but will also be forever grateful to the CFA and other services that were sooo amazing!!
Great to know all is well, and there were some success stories too. :)
